From entry socio-technical system in glossary Human Computer Interaction the Basics
The term socio-technical system refers to a wholistic view of the way humans, computers and aspects of other technology such as machines, or paperwork together act as a system. It is often important to focus on small aspects of this for a period or within a particular role, such as a particular human–computer interface or an AI algorithm; however in so doing to is easy lose sight of the the fact that it is the overall socio-technical systems that needs to perform well.
